Keeping the balance is very similar to keeping balance when walking on a rope. If you try to run quickly you increase the chance to fall down and step on poop. :)

So if it’s me I will keep going forward just with small and persistent steps. One after another, until I cross the goal and get on the new rope.

Making these small changes(steps) will evolve the product into a better version and will keep the consistency. Each step needs to be informed by your user research and the tracking data from the product.

When the design is evolving into a newer version it needs to be done according to the user needs. Otherwise the friction will become to big and breaking the consistency will happen.
